Margaret McKenna is an American lawyer and education advocate. She was born on July 31, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn and obtained a law degree from the University of Kentucky.
Margaret served as the president of Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from 2007 to 2016, she also served as the president of the Walmart Foundation and the Walmart Giving Council from 2007 to 2011.
Margaret has also been involved in various education policy initiatives throughout her career. She served as the chair of the board of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), and as President of the American Association of University Women. She also worked with the Obama administration as a member of the President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics and the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans.
Currently, Margaret McKenna is a member of the Board of Directors of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, which supports high-achieving, low-income students in their pursuit of higher education.
